Why ESG matters right now

ESG covers three groups of criteria used to evaluate a business: Environmental, Social and Governance. And the rules around them are getting clearer:

In February 2026, the EU finalized its Omnibus I package. Mandatory sustainability reporting under the CSRD now applies to companies with more than 1,000 employees and over €450 million in annual turnover, with first reports for most of them due in 2028 (Jones Day).
Companies that report under the CSRD also disclose information about their supply chains, so their suppliers become part of the picture even if they don’t report themselves (Parallax).

Corporate gifts are part of that supply chain too. And for employees and clients, they’re one of the most visible moments when a company’s words meet its actions.

How to talk about your gift without greenwashing

Use facts, not adjectives. Instead of “we gave eco-friendly gifts,” say “we chose candles with a wooden base that can be refilled.” Instead of “we support small business,” say “the gifts were handmade by a family workshop.” On request, we’ll prepare a short description of the materials and their origin for your report or post.
